On March 24th of 2013 I organized a flea market fundraising event with the goal to raise awareness on domestic violence and stop abuse against women and children. This event was focused on the youth of Aruba, therefore it included many kids activities for example face painting, a kids fashion show, a dino jump, pony rides and a folklore kids dance presentation.

Because self respect and respect for others should be taught at a young age, therefore I believe it is very important to educate kids on the subject of domestic violence. As part of my fundraising, me and my team of volunteers also prepared and sold 1000 barbeque meals. Many local businesses donated clothing and articles for the flea market. This made the event all the more successful.

All the funds raised will be donated to 4 foundations who aim to prevent abuse against women and children in Aruba, and also help the victims of domestic violence!  For more information on these foundations please click on the button “Foundations”.
